Blackhawks trade into third round, select forward Jack Pridham No. 92 overall

Source: BCHL

After trading away a few of their picks on the first day of the 2024 NHL Draft, there was speculation the Chicago Blackhawks would try to acquire some additional picks on the second day. And that’s exactly what they did, adding a third-round pick this year from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange a third-round pick in 2025:

With the No. 92 pick, the Blackhawks selected speedy right winger Jack Pridham from the BCHL’s West Kelowna Warriors:

Pridham, who turns 19 in October, fits the mold of several other players the Blackhawks have drafted under GM Kyle Davidson: he’s a fast-skating, high work ethic player who is a relentless puck hound — though he’s a bit more of a project than some others. His regular season offense was solid but not extraordinary with 49 points (23 G, 26 A) in 54 BCHL games last year, but he improved in the playoffs with 11 points (8 G, 3 A) in 10 postseason games. Pridham has a solid toolkit that there is the potential to add offensive dimension to his game over the next few years of development.

Despite being a Boston University commit, Pridham will spend on more season in the BCHL before making the transition to NCAA, which is a good runway from this project prospect:

Also of note, Pridham’s father Brandon is currently the assistant general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs and has been with them since 2014-15.
